Manufacturers work with the CRI to create their own install guidelines and they all require power stretching. If your home's carpet was installed with someone's knee - it will be luck alone that determines the longevity of your carpet. The data-set for quality control comprised by CRI is exponentially larger than the opinions of a single installer. Always ensure that your installers can communicate how and why they use the tools they do, and know that there is always a third party to verify information.
