Stretching Carpet

It is absolutely vital that your installer uses a power stretcher to tighten your carpet. The Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI) uses metrics based on thousands and thousands of installs to determine standards of procedure. Manufacturers work with the CRI to create their own install guidelines and they all require power stretching. If your home's carpet was installed with someone's knee - it will be luck alone that determines the longevity of your carpet. The data-set for quality control comprised by CRI is exponentially larger than the opinions of a single installer. Always ensure that your installers can communicate how and why they use the tools they do, and know that there is always a third party to verify information.
